~Double Review!!!~ Shingeki No Kyojin Episodes #3 and #4
After the success of episodes 1 and 2, its time to see if the rest of the series shapes up…SPOILERS AHOY!
We see the kids all grown up and getting inducted into the ways of being…warriors? The episode covers the triumphs and failures of the new recruits, and builds upon individual characters too.
At this point, I’m starting to realize how awesome these characters are. For only running 3 episodes so far in my resume, I’ve already memorized most of the names, and even have some favourites…(Armin Armin Ar-MIN!).
Oh, and one thing…
THE INSTRUCTOR IS A F*CKING LUNATIC!!!
The animation retains it’s fluidity, and the unique style of comedy shines through particularly in Eren’s failure (though not all the time) and in the romantic feelings that Jean has for Mikasa (*sniff* FINE! I’ll take Armin-chan).
I still really don’t like the way they’ve changed her design from the manga. I just don’t like how feminine she looks, man even Sasha and Annie look more manly than her, and that is TOTALLY not how it is (at least in my mind, Mikasa is the one who should be the most androgynous).
OKAY I LOVE THE ENDING SONG FOR THIS SERIES SERIOUSLY CHECK IT OUT:
Okay review time.
And here come
two three four of my other favourite characters:
The forest scene in this episode kicks serious butt in terms of animation fluidity
There is also a lot more comedy to be found in this episode until things start to rev up at the end. Most of that comedy again comes from how the characters interact with each-other.
There is more hand-to-hand training this episode as supposed to the 3D Maneuver Gear stuff we saw in episode 3. This gives some comedic relief when Eren get’s his butt handed to him by Annie. Animation fluidity is top notch in the fight we get between Eren and Jean, with a bit of humour when Mr. Instructor comes in asking what the noise was, and Mikasa blames it on Sasha farting. Kinda wtf but also kinda hahaha~
On return to the main part of the human settlement, we see everyone settling into their new roles after top-ranking Eren and Mikasa decline the well-lived Military Police positions in favor of being more on the front lines, with the other high-rankers following suit. They stand atop the wall, with some stolen meat courtesy of Sasha, when suddenly, this happens:
I’ll be absolutely honest, I had NO idea what was happening for a moment, and when it finally occurred to me, I was like “WOAH DUDE!”
Big Mr.Badass Titan appears, and as everyone is caught by surprise, Eren experiences a surge in determination, leading to the signature image of this series, and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Instead of showing that, here’s some angry eyes instead:
Oh alright fine…
Love it! Can’t wait to watch more. (I am aware I am a little behind here, but I’ve read some of the manga so I should be fine? And I know the true outcome of episode 5, but I’ll pretend to be surprised when I get round to it. You’ll see. You’ll all see…hehehe…he…).
This is better than Sora No Otoshimono III. I admit it.
